Texas Jazz Cats
The musicians in the Texas Jazz Cats are a mix of professional musicians, musical educators and other professionals, all donating their time and talents.
We are bonded together by our love of jazz and our desire to support our community.
We enjoy sharing our love of jazz, mentoring young musicians, and performing for the benefit of the North Texas Food Bank.
A Jam Session Taken to the Streets
The Texas Jazz Cats started with some friends getting together and jamming jazz. As we added songs we also added musicians. We quickly decided we really wanted to perform for the public. Our first public performance was playing Christmas music at NorthPark Center in Dallas Dec. 2019.
The Community is in our Hearts and Minds
The first Spring we were scheduled to perform, COVID shut down everything! So we performed that Spring outdoors in neighborhoods. People brought lawn chairs, social distanced, and some even watched from the safety of their vehicles. It was during this time we decided our purpose was to support the community and in particular the local food bank. Since Spring of 2020, all of our performances have been for the benefit of the North Texas Food Bank.
